Why a Porsche?

Ok, so i’m not really a sports car guy.

Neither am I a Magnus Walker, die hard Porsche fan…

…But there has always been something about the air cooled 911’s that has sucked me in. Is it the beautiful compound curves? The way the roof line catches your eye as it describes that perfect aerofoil shape or the rasp that only an air-cooled engine can make?

For me, the appeal is the combination of all those things, but more so, the fact that every nut and bolt of these cars point back to an era when great design was crafted and honed. An era when cars were designed by hand and not by machine.

The predecessor to the 911 was the Porsche 901. It was debued at the Frankfurt motor show in 1963. If you sit that very first 901 alongside a 2020 911 (992), the evolution is clear…but the design lineage is clear. For me, great design is about creating a legacy, and these cars, more than most have achieved that.

To many they are the Iconic sports car. Back in 1963 a Legend was created.
